Colorful Turkey Caddy!

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

Add a touch of color — and order — to the guest’s table with this clever marker holder. To inspire holiday artwork, use plain white butcher paper as a tablecloth, or just supply a few sheets of paper.

Materials
  • Bread knife or fine-toothed saw
  • Styrofoam ball (ours was 7 inches in diameter)
  • Brown acrylic paint and brush
  • Scissors
  • Card stock
  • Glue dots
  • Googly eyes

Instructions
  1. Colorful Turkey Caddy - Step 1 Using the bread knife or saw, cut the Styrofoam ball in half. Paint it brown and let it dry. Cut out a card stock beak and snood, and use glue dots to attach them, along with googly eyes, to a card stock head. Use more glue dots to attach the head to the ball.
  2. Make holes in the Styrofoam with the ends of the markers, pressing each straight down about an inch deep.

Sweet Turkey Treats!

•No touching knives or the stove
•Do not touch any appliances without adult supervision.
•Always wash your hands before handling food.

From FamilyFun reader Natalie D. of Utah: One recent Thanksgiving, my daughter, Sara, age 7, and I whipped up a batch of sweet turkey treats. Everyone loved the turkeys — especially the people, who ate them for dessert.

Ingredients
  • Oreo cookies
  • Royal icing
  • Whoppers candy
  • Candy corn

Instructions
  1. We used half an Oreo cookie for each body and an entire cookie for each tail, then used a dab of royal icing to affix Whoppers for heads.
  2. We piped on icing eyes and also used icing to affix the candy corn feathers and beaks.
