From service dog to SURFice dog… turning disappointment into a joyful new direction

By SURFIN’ FOR PAWS-ABILITIES

[pro-player] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGODurRfVv4 [/pro-player]

My path in life was to become a service dog breeder for Puppy Prodigies, and provide service dog puppies to assistance dog organizations, as well as become a service dog myself for people with disabilities. But, as I grew, so did my interest in chasing birds, and small, furry prey animals! That’s a no-no for a service dog.

A “board” meeting was held, and my career path changed. Because I still want to help people, my title went from service dog to SURFice dog! I want to take my natural ability of balancing on a surfboard, and make it meaningful… I want to make a difference. So, rather than a litter of puppies being born… Surfin’ for Paws-abilities was born!… which is a fund raising initiative carved out for me through Puppy Prodigies. So, I’m still able to be part of Puppy Prodigies! Yay! But, now I’m a fund raiser, and went from service dog to SURFice dog!

My mission is, to achieve my highest surfing paw’tential so I can participate in dog surfing events, exhibitions, and act as an ambassador to create awareness while supporting individual charitable causes through organizing, leading, and coordinating fund raising campaigns.

Hannah Montana Coming To An End!

Get your tissues ready, Hannah Montana is indeed ending after a fourth season.

A rep for show runner Miley Cyrus told Access Hollywood that the most popular Disney Channel show will start shooting it’s final season on Monday, January 18.

Disney Channel Worldwide’s Adam Bonnett, senior VP of Programming shared with the NY Post, “You never know in this business . . . but right now we’re scheduled to wrap [forever] after shooting this new batch of episodes.”

The plot of the final season will mirror Miley’s own life, as her character must decided if she is going to leave her secret double life as a pop star in for the life of an everyday teen.

Late last year, Miley dished to AccessBilly Bush that she would always be grateful for HM: “I could never say anything bad about it because [that's] what gave me my start and it has been so amazing. It’s given me the opportunity to grow as an artist. It was really a great learning experience. But I definitely am ready to go on and do other things.”

Are you sad or glad that Hannah Montana is ending?

A lot of people are talking about climate change, but how does it really affect us?

Right now, global warming is most affecting animals that live on the poles. Polar bears (north pole) are having a harder and harder time finding food because the ice sheets are melting. The same issue exists for the penguins of the south pole, which are also watching their home melt.

Climate change is also changing rain patterns so that in places where there used to be heavy rainfall there is drought. If something is not done, zones like the Mediterranean could turn into deserts.

Another big issue is deforestation. Big forests like the Amazon and the forests of Hawaii are losing many trees and this loss affects air quality (trees generate the oxygen that we need to live).

Another issue is the ocean, which has also been affected by mankind. Coal reefs are very fragile and they are pasting away in places like Brazil because of pollution and the rising temperature of the sea.

Lastly, if the globe’s temperature keeps rising, small islands in the south Pacific could disappear completely.
