Selena Gomez & Kevin Jonas: We Just Couldn’t Say No

Pals Selena Gomez and Kevin Jonas were just two of the many celebrities hanging out at the phone back during last night’s (January 22) Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief telethon in Los Angeles.

Selena, 17, revealed to MTV that there was no way she could say no to participating. She shared, ” I thought that it was very important to be here tonight, because I feel like we are very fortunate, and I’ve lived a blessed life. Being able to help and give back as much as I can is a good feeling in general, but what happened to the people in Haiti is absolutely devastating. It’s so empowering to see how many people are coming together to help. And I’m just here. I’m just one of those people wanting to get the word out and help the people of Haiti.”

Kevin echoed her statement, saying, “Answering phones and being able to talk to people all around the country has been an amazing opportunity. When we can get together as a group of people that may have a wider reach than just a couple of people, it works really well. It’s an honor to be in the room.”

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

Embellish a basic notebook and use it as a place to collect your Valentine cards this February. You can also use it as a diary or to collect friends’ phone numbers. Whatever you use it for, you’ll love the colorful and whimsical design of this Valentine notebook.

What you’ll need:

  • Pink foam journal
  • Heart shaped foam stamps
  • Acrylic paint in white, pink, red, purple, and yellow
  • Paint brush

How to make it:

  1. Paint foam side of stamp with desired color.
  2. Press down gently but firmly onto foam notebook cover.
  3. Decorate with different stamps and colors.
  4. Use paint brush to touch up any empty spots.
  5. Use point on paint brush handle to make dots. Dip handle into paint and dot onto foam cover.
  6. Let dry completely.

Tips:

  • Foam journals come in a variety of colors and are available at most discount department stores. Light blue or purple works great for boys!
  • Foam stamps are inexpensive and can be washed and used over and over again. Most craft stores have an entire aisle dedicated to foam stamps!
  • Use this cute notebook as a diary, doodle book, to tape Valentine cards in, write friend’s phone numbers, or for just about anything.

•No touching knives or the stove
•Do not touch any appliances without adult supervision.
•Always wash your hands before handling food.

These divine little desserts add festive flair without the fuss. The best part is, there’s no baking required, so younger siblings can help whip up a bundle of these cinnamon coconut balls along with you.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons cream
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Cooking Instructions

  1. Sprinkle the sugar on the coconut. Add the cream and mix gently.
  2. Take approximately 1/2 tablespoon of dough and roll into balls. Place cinnamon in a plastic bag and shake cookies a few at a time until coated.
