Oily skin is the hardest to take care of, especially when you are prone to breakouts.

Today we are going to share with you how to treat oily skin with a cheap and easy product: cucumber.

Many people don’t know it, but cucumber calms, cleans and gives valuable nutrients to skin.

If you have red skin patches, acne, oily skin or blackheads, cucumber can help.

How? Write down this cucumber wash recipe and use it alongside your regular facial cleansers.

Liquify a cucumber in a blender or food processor along with one glass of non-fat milk. Blend with the peel and all because the peel has the most vitamins. Then, with a cotton ball, apply the mix to your face, especially in problems areas. Let the mix do its magic for 15 minutes and then remove it with warm water.

Always remember that after a treatment such as this you need to wash your face with facial soap and apply your moisturizer.

Pom-Pom Tie Guy!

http://crafts.kaboose.com/swf/craft_pompom_tie_04_FINAL_rdax_65.jpg

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

Make these really easy and super cute fluffy guys in a tie for your dad to display proudly on his desk or toolbox! It makes a great Father’s Day gift.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 medium foam hearts (about 1”-1.5”)
  • 1 medium foam circle
  • 1 large pom-pom
  • 1 miniature pom-pom
  • 5” x 1” piece of felt
  • 2 wiggle eyes
  • 5” x ½” piece of cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
  • Marker

How to make it:

  1. Place the two foam hearts on the table next to each other so that the points are almost touching. Put some glue on the point of each heart and glue the foam circle over both heart points. The hearts will be the feet and the circle is your body’s base. (Picture #1)
  2. Glue the pom-pom to the circle. (Picture #2)
  3. Cut out a simple necktie from the felt and glue it to the pom-pom, just in between the two hearts (feet). (Picture #3)
  4. Glue on two wiggle eyes and the miniature pom-pom for the nose.
  5. Write a message on the cardstock strip; be sure to leave a blank space where you will glue it under your “tie guy”. Now glue the message banner to the bottom of the foam circle and let everything dry. (Picture #4)

Tips:

  • Personalize your message banner with Dad’s name or his work title, or simply put “World’s Greatest Dad” or “My Dad Rocks”.
  • If your dad is a sports fan, use his favorite team’s colors for the feet and pom-pom.
  • Add a magnet to the bottom and this will stick nicely to a file cabinet or toolbox!

Best Dad Desk Accessory!

http://crafts.kaboose.com/swf/350x255_bestdaddesk2_rdax_65.jpg

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

Painted black to compliment Dad’s executive desk, this decoration reminds him of your love for him all day long. This also looks great displayed in your home with family photographs!

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard from snack crackers box
  • 2- 12″ long wooden dowels
  • Black and white acrylic paint
  • Scissors
  • Alphabet foam stamps
  • Glue stick
  • Hot glue gun

How to make it:

  1. Cut open an empty cardboard snack cracker box. Other boxes you could use might be from cereal, fruit snacks, or snack cakes.
  2. Lay the box out flat on the table.
  3. Cut out the two largest pieces of cardboard from the box (front and the back). Measure the long side and trim so that it can be divided into 7 equal pieces. For example, if it is 22 cm long, trim off one cm. This will leave you 21 cm and that can be divided by 7. Same goes if you have 8 inches, trim down to 7 inches.
  4. Now do the same thing on the short side so that it can be divided into 3 equal pieces.
  5. Use a pencil to divide trimmed cardboard into 21 pieces, 7 across and 3 down. Cut out all pieces.
  6. Stack pieces into piles of 3. You should have 7 piles.
  7. Use the glue stick to attach the 3 pieces together, stacked on top of each other. Be sure to face the shiny side (decorative side) of the cardboard in toward the center to make both sides of your stack easier to paint.
  8. You should now have 7 pieces comprised of 3 equal pieces each. Paint all 7 pieces with black paint and let dry. Repeat on the other side.
  9. Cut a stand from the other piece of cardboard and paint it black on the non-shiny side. Let dry.
  10. Use the foam stamps to add letters to the 7 black pieces that spell out “BEST DAD.” Apply a light coat of white paint to the stamp and press the stamp onto the black piece, leaving room at the bottom for it to be inserted into the stand.
  11. Cut both dowels in half and sand the ends with sand paper.
  12. Lay two dowels side by side onto the black stand. Place them toward the top left side. Place the other two toward the bottom right side. Glue them in place, but leave enough room in between each set of two to insert your letter pieces.
  13. Paint the dowels black.
  14. Use the hot glue gun to insert letters into the dowel holders.

Tips:

  • Instead of dowels you can use craft sticks.
  • Save the remaining cardboard from this project for another project.
  • To save cardboard from the landfill, flatten out snack boxes and place them in a folder or better yet place into a cereal box.

“My Mom’s The Best” Keychain!

http://crafts.kaboose.com/swf/350_keychain_03_FINAL_rdax_65.jpg

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

This pretty keychain will tell mom just how much you love her! With pretty colored beads and a personal message, your mom will cherish this gift.

What you’ll need:

  • Alphabet beads to spell “MY MOMS THE BEST”
  • Colorful beads to fill in gaps (approximately 30-40)
  • Colorful charm
  • Keychain ring
  • 24″ stretchy jewelry cord, cut into two equal pieces

How to make it:

  1. Line up the two pieces of jewelry cord side by side, then gather one end together and tie in a triple knot to the keychain ring.
  2. Thread 4-5 colorful beads onto one side of the jewelry cord.
  3. Thread on the letters T H and E, be sure they are facing the correct direction.
  4. Follow with 4-5 more colorful beads.
  5. Add the letters B, E, S and T.
  6. Add 4-5 more beads.
  7. Carefully set the finished cord aside, taping the end of the cord to the table will keep the beads from falling off.
  8. On the other string, add 3-4 colorful beads, then the letters M and Y.
  9. Next add 3-4 more colorful beads, and then the letters M, O, M and S. (Picture #1)
  10. Add 5-6 more colorful beads.
  11. Lay the two strings along side each other and add beads to the shortest side to get them even.
  12. Holding the two ends of the jewelry cord as close to the last beads as possible, thread one last colorful bead onto BOTH strings. Run the string through the bead again by looping it through the top and pulling it tight. (Picture #2)
  13. Tie the charm to the end of the string, knot it several times and trim ends. Don’t trim it too close!

Tips:

  • For younger siblings you can use pony beads and larger alphabet beads as well as hemp or thicker jewelry cord.
  • If you like, instead of the phrase, make up your own phrase or use your mom’s first name.
  • This keychain also makes a lovely addition to mom’s work desk hanging on a pushpin!

Fabric Scrap Flower Garden!

http://crafts.kaboose.com/swf/fabric-scrap-flower-garden-craft-photo-350-aformaro-205_rdax_65.jpg

You might need to use tools that require adult supervision, such as glue gun and scissors. If so, these can be replaced by textile glue and safety scissors. Make sure you ask your parents some help.

Using craft sticks and fabric scraps, you can create this fun and pretty flower garden activity with recycled materials – perfect for Earth Day & Mother’s Day.

What you’ll need:

  • Fabric scraps in bright colors
  • Scissors
  • 7 craft sticks
  • White craft glue
  • 2 green skinny chenille stems
  • White craft paint
  • 1 sheet pink felt

How to make it:

Cut some simple shapes from the fabric for your flowers. They should be about 1 – 1.5 inches diameter. Cut small circles and square and glue those to the center of some of your flower shapes. (Picture #1)

Line up 5 craft sticks side by side. There should be enough space between each that one craft stick will stretch across all 5 horizontally. Glue one stick at the top and one at the bottom, about an inch from the top and bottom. Let the glue dry then paint fence white. (Picture #2)

Cut chenille into 6 different lengths. Glue the chenille stems to the fence. (Picture #3)

Glue the flowers to the tops of each chenille stem. (Picture #4)

Glue the fence to a piece of pink felt. Trim around the edge to create an even border.

Tips:

  1. This looks great hanging on your mother’s door or wall! Simply take a long fabric scrap and create a simple hanger by gluing it to the back.
  2. Save fabric scraps in a zipper gallon storage bag or plastic container with a lid for future projects such as this.
  3. To create a sturdy frame, glue the pink felt backing to a piece of poster board or card stock.
