Leonardo DiCaprio has joined forces with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to save a species on the brink of extinction.

With as few as 3,200 tigers left in the wild, WWF and Leo today kicked off the Save Tigers Now campaign.

In honor of the Chinese Year of the Tiger, an ambitious goal of $20 million has been set with the vision of doubling the tiger population by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.

“Tigers are endangered and critical to some of the world’s most important ecosystems,” said Leo. “Key conservation efforts can save the tiger species from extinction, protect some of the planet’s last wild habitats and help sustain the local communities surrounding them. By protecting this iconic species, we can save so much more.”

Leo is currently in Asia right now with WWF experts to see the threats tigers face first-hand. Visit SaveTigersNow.org to follow Leo’s journey and participate in the effort to save tigers!

Taylor Swift – I’m A Big People-Watcher!

Taylor Swift is gorgeous in sea-foam green in this new behind-the-scenes pic from her CoverGirl photo shoot.

The 20-year-old country cutie caught up with People at the shoot to dish on makeup, being a big people-watcher and possible branching into the fashion world. Check it:

On becoming a different character with makeup: “I love makeup. When I go on stage, I get to play with my look and try on all kinds of different colors — try red lips tonight, purple eyeshadow tomorrow. You get to play around with all these different characters, and I think that’s one of my favorite things about makeup — you can put on a new character. I wanted to sort of show how makeup can play up your natural features. It’s not about changing how you look. I feel like I still look like myself, and that’s exactly what I hoped for.”

On finding inspiration from her fans: I’m a big people-watcher. When I see a girl walking down the street wearing a really cool necklace or an outfit that’s put together in a way I wouldn’t have thought of, it’s inspiring to me. Also, girls come through my meet and greet lines every night wearing dresses or outfits I love. That’s really my favorite way to be inspired by fashion.”

On a possible Taylor Swift fashion line: I’m not planning on a fashion line right now. I’m really wrapped up in recording and writing my next album, so I’ve only taken on a few extra things lately. I love fashion and dressing up for red carpets, but I want to wait until I have enough time to dedicate to something like that.

Nick Cannon - Increase Your Green!

Nick Cannon: Increase Your Green

TeenNick chairman Nick Cannon is teaming up with DoSomething and HP to challenge teens to find new and innovative ways to conserve energy and reduce waste in their schools.

The new Increase Your Green campaign is encouraging teens nationwide to “green” their schools by developing creative plans to engage their classmates and address environmental issues at school.

In addition to traditional green projects, such as recycling programs and community gardens, DoSomething.org is encouraging teens to explore ways to use technology to go green. “The environment is all over the headlines and at the top of everyone’s mind. It’s important for teens to know that their actions locally make a huge difference on this global issue,” Nick shared in a press release.

The eight-week campaign will run from February 15 through Earth Day on April 22, is expected to engage over 100,000 teens. A panel of judges, including Nick, will evaluate the entries based on creativity, innovation, reduction in waste, energy saved and number of students involved. The best use of technology will be an important criterion for selecting campaign winners. The winners will receive up to $5,000 in funding and an HP Artist Edition notebook to carry out their plan.

Thanks to support from the National Grid Foundation, the campaign’s founding sponsor, Increase Your Green will offer additional prize opportunities of up to $1,500 to students in the National Grid Foundation’s service territory. To learn how to get involved or for more information about environmental issues, visit IncreaseYourGreen.org.

The Earth is begging us to help by stopping to pollute and conserving natural resources.
Though most of us know the issue, many of us do not care for the Earth day to day through our own personal actions.

The largest environmental organizations have created aggressive campaigns to get people thinking about the Earth and pollution, climate change and animal extinction.

In the photo below you’ll see a towel dispenser that shows us that we are adding to the destruction of the South American rainforest every time we take a paper towel. Another photo shows a couple of leopards with price tags on their hides.

Ads like these help us remember that each person can help the environment right from their own home.
