Nick Jonas – Battle Of The Bands Winners!

Congrats to the Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County from Port St. Lucie, Florida — they won the grand prize of DoSomething.org’s Battle of the Bands campaign!
Launched alongside spokesperson Nick Jonas, the campaign encouraged teens to submit videos to DoSomething.org about the importance of music in their lives.
Nick, 17, was joined by other celebs including Death Cab for Cutie, Kristen Bell, and America’s Best Dance Crew champions the Jabbawockeez, to share their stories about why music education matters and encourage participation.
DoSomething.org and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation will present the ‘Battle of the Bands’ video submissions to Senators and members of Congress at events on the Hill in May and June 2010.
The Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County will receive a $5000 grant for their school music program and is scheduled to perform before music executives at DoSomething.org’s star-studded annual event at the Apollo Theater on May 24th. Four additional bands were also selected to receive up to $1000 for their school music programs, concert tickets, Rock Band video games, Fender guitars, and more.

Taylor Swift – I’m A Big People-Watcher!

Taylor Swift is gorgeous in sea-foam green in this new behind-the-scenes pic from her CoverGirl photo shoot.
The 20-year-old country cutie caught up with People at the shoot to dish on makeup, being a big people-watcher and possible branching into the fashion world. Check it:
On becoming a different character with makeup: “I love makeup. When I go on stage, I get to play with my look and try on all kinds of different colors — try red lips tonight, purple eyeshadow tomorrow. You get to play around with all these different characters, and I think that’s one of my favorite things about makeup — you can put on a new character. I wanted to sort of show how makeup can play up your natural features. It’s not about changing how you look. I feel like I still look like myself, and that’s exactly what I hoped for.”
On finding inspiration from her fans: I’m a big people-watcher. When I see a girl walking down the street wearing a really cool necklace or an outfit that’s put together in a way I wouldn’t have thought of, it’s inspiring to me. Also, girls come through my meet and greet lines every night wearing dresses or outfits I love. That’s really my favorite way to be inspired by fashion.”
On a possible Taylor Swift fashion line: I’m not planning on a fashion line right now. I’m really wrapped up in recording and writing my next album, so I’ve only taken on a few extra things lately. I love fashion and dressing up for red carpets, but I want to wait until I have enough time to dedicate to something like that.
