Selena is about to turn 18.

But that does not mean that she is ready to fully enter the adult world.

In a recent interview with  Boston.com , Selena spoke about her role as Ramona’s big sis and how she deals when she feels nervous:

“What helps me is to use those feelings,” Selena adds. “When I get really nervous I like to talk about it or ask my mom what to do.”

The bigger lesson for kids dealing with adversity, Selena says, is that “Everything happens for a reason, and within each problem there’s a lesson you can learn.” Don’t be afraid that people will laugh or make fun of you, follow your passion, and keep your family close. “At the end of the day, family is all you’ve got,” she says.

The first option for the role of Beezus was not Selena, but Miley Cyrus! Miley asked for too much money to do the movie, so Selena was the next choice.

Cities And Bikes!

http://enveeapparel.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/walking-bike-max-knight-1.jpg

Bicycles are the best option for the environment and getting around big cities.

Many city governments have begun to offer bike service for citizens in large cities. But, if you ride bikes in the city, then you need to be careful. There are few bike lanes for riders and you need to watch out for pedestrians and cars. So where do you ride?

More and more we see bike lanes in our cities. These lanes are only for cyclists but many times they are badly constructed or don’t cover enough ground.

On Flickr, a group decided to post picture of the worst bike lanes in the world. It is amazing that such useless and dangerous bike lanes have been created. There are some bike lanes only 15 feet long, others that run into parked cars and some that are badly marked. There are also bike racks where it says ‘Prohibited to park bikes’.

With all of these pictures we can’t help but wonder if it is a good idea to ride bikes. One thing is for sure, it will be a long time until we reach the level of Holland, where bikes are the kings of the road and cars come second!
