When you don’t have a lot of time to create a snack, look to this twist on an American classic. Sweet, tender apple slices nestled into two slices of bread create a handheld version of apple pie that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, plus 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing tops of pies
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored and diced small
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 tablespoon flour
  • 1 loaf white bread (about 17 slices), crusts removed

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat cook butter, apples, brown sugar and cinnamon for about 4 minutes. Sprinkle in flour, stir and cook for about 2 minutes more or until apples are tender. Place mixture into a bowl and set aside to cool.
  3. Using a rolling pin, roll each slice of bread until it is thin and flat (this ensures that the bread is pliable). Place about 1 teaspoon of apple mixture into the center of each slice of bread. Wet two of the edges of each slice of bread with a little bit of water. Fold the slice of bread diagonally to that it forms a triangle. Firmly press the edges of the bread together creating a tight seal. Place hand-pies onto prepared baking sheet. Brush each of the hand-pies with the remaining melted butter.
  4. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.

Tips & Tricks

These pies are delicious served cold or at room temp, making them perfect lunchtime fare.

Add raisins or chopped nuts into the mixture to change it up.

Nick Jonas & Nicole Anderson – Holding Hand On Set!

While Joe Jonas gets dramatic on set, brother Nick was seen stealing a moment with on-screen love interest Nicole Anderson on the set of JONAS on Wednesday afternoon (April 21) in Long Beach, Calif.

JJJ can confirm that Nick and Nicole have a little romance in the new season of JONAS and that Nick (the character) has written a song for Macy (Nicole). We can’t wait to see the on-screen relationship develop.

Earlier last week, the trio and Demi Lovato headed out to dinner at Farfalla Restaurant.

The Jonas Brothers: The Director Leaked Camp Rock Photos!

Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas are anxious for a game of golf in this new shot from their adventures in Europe from Jonas Brothers: Living The Dream 2.

The musical trio caught up with MTV recently and dished on their upcoming DCOM, Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam.

They shared about the feel and leaked pictures, “[We shot] at so many different locations this time. The story line is really great. They built a camp for the movie and they blocked off a whole mile radius so that people couldn’t really find out what the movie was about. It was a really fun experience, and everyone really kept it under wraps. The director [Paul Hoen] was the one who kind of leaked pictures on his Facebook … of all the people!”

Joe also dished on being a part of the new documentary film, OCEANS, saying, “I didn’t expect that at all when the charity asked us. And Demi [Lovato] and I were like, ‘Definitely.’ Then to hear it was a part of the movie, it was an even greater thing for us. It’s so cool.”

Remember, the FIRST music video from Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam, “Can’t Back Down,” premieres THIS Sunday, April 25th.

Demi Lovato Could Perform At Your School!

Demi Lovato gets comfy as she chats it up with Radio Disney host Ernie D during her takeover at the studios in Burbank, Calif., earlier this week.

The 17-year-old actress/singer dished about Camp Rock 2, funny stuff behind-the-scenes and her favorite Sonny skit of the moment. Check it:

On her favorite song from Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam: “‘I Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ (the duet with boyfriend Joe Jonas). It’s a song that’s close to my heart. It’s probably one of my favorite parts of the movie.”

On her favorite Sonny With a Chance skit: “‘The Real Princesses of New Jersey,’ I get to put on a blonde wig and I don’t look like myself! I like putting on all the crazy makeup.”

On the funniest thing that happened behind-the-scenes of Camp Rock 2: One night in particular when we were all sitting around a campfire, Nick, Kevin and Joe were being so hilarious. I was having a hard time trying not to laugh. When I watched the scene back, I was totally laughing in the scene! Sometimes those boys will make you laugh until you cry. They’re the funniest people ever.”

Be sure to head on over to RadioDisney.com to learn about how you can get Demi to perform a concert at your school and tune into Radio Disney to listen to Demi’s takeover @ 6PM ET/3PM PT.

Also pictured below is Radio Disney listener Alana Collins won a contest to meet Demi and present $5,000 to an organization important to Demi (Pacer Center, Inc.).

Nail biting is a bad habit and can even cause health problems.

During the day, we touch all kinds of surfaces that are covered in bacteria (keyboards, doorknobs, etc). If you touch bacteria and germs and then bite your nails, chances are you will end up with a cold.

The other problem with biting your nails is that your hands look unattractive. Having bit up nails could stop you from getting a job later on where you work with the public, because your hands are damaged.

How to quit? First, just think about it. If you don’t stop biting your nails you will have all sorts of problems, and if you do stop then you will have beautiful hands and fingers. If this is not enough to keep you from biting your nails, then follow these tips.

Every time you want to bite your nails just stick a piece of gum in your mouth. This way you can chew on it instead. It also reminds you that you were about to bite and do damage but that you stopped yourself from doing so.

In the drug store you can buy nail polish for nail biters. It has a bad taste that will stop you from biting your nails.

Another method that is more expensive is to use fake nails for a few months. They look great and you will not want to bite them off!

When you use the public bathroom, what do you prefer to use to dry your hands: paper towels or the air hand dryer?

Drying your hands with the air dryer is not very comfortable and it seems like our hands are never 100% dry.

Recently, a study was conducted comparing drying your hands with air versus paper. The air dryer is more earth-friendly that drying your hands with towels, even though it may seem unbelievable. a towel dispenser produces 4.6 tons of CO2 in 5 years, three times more than the air hand dryer.

But the hand dryer also has its drawbacks. It’s not very good at doing what it is designed to do: dry your hands. Most of the time we spend 40 seconds drying our hands and then most of the time they are not even dry after that time. Also, hand dryers move air around and can shoot bacteria from the air onto your hands.

Paper, on the other hand, is less earth-friendly but more efficient. You can dry your hands with a paper towel in 10 seconds and it’s much more hygienic.

Paper or air? We can’t say which is better or worse at this point because both have their goods and bads.  What we can say for sure is that if you use paper towels make sure to take only what you need and use sparingly.
