Idol Gives Back $45 Million!

This year’s episode of Idol Gives Back raised nearly $45 million to benefit various charities including the Feeding America, Children’s Health Fund, United Nations Foundation, Malaria No More and Save the Children’s U.S. Programs.

Performances made on the American Idol stage were given by Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Sir Elton John.

The annual fund-raising event has raised more than $140 million since its inception in 2007. Last year, Idol Gives Back raised $60 million.

Jennifer Garner reads There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell to a little girl at LBJ Elementary in Jackson, Kentucky.

The 38-year-old actress took part in Save The Children’s Early Steps to School Success program, which helps kids get ready for school by making sure they have strong reading skills.

Jen’s visit to Breathitt, Kentucky – near her hometown – was televised as part of American Idol’s “Idol Gives Back” special yesterday (April 22).

“Four-year-olds who grow up in poverty are 18 months behind children who grow up in even lower-middle-class communities,” Jen said. “It’s not fair.”

Gabrielle Union is all smiles as she attends an evening of cocktails and private shopping at the Ralph Lauren Atlanta store on Wednesday (April 21) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 37-year-old actress (pictured here with actress Jasmine Burke) shopped to benefit The Ludacris Foundation, a nonprofit that serves to inspire youth and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Founder Chris “Ludacris” Bridges also attended the event!

Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14th every year. It is a day to display affection. People send cards, called valentines, to their friends, family, and loved ones. Verses on valentines often rhyme and express love and affection. Sometimes valentines contain humorous pictures or puns – but almost all ask, “Be My Valentine.” 

Valentine’s day is a great day to celebrate our friends. School children decorate their classrooms with bright red paper hearts. They exchange gifts, candy, flowers or “valentines.” 

Some people say that Valentine’s Day was invented by stores and shops to give people one more reason to buy stuff.

But to enjoy the day with your guy or your friends you really don’t have to spend any money at all! Here are a few ideas.

This year, Valentine’s Day is on Sunday. If it is a nice day, go for a nice walk in the park or even sledding in the snow!

You could also a prepare a picnic for the afternoon, simple and delicious. Pack a couple of sandwiches, a couple drinks, and some homemade cookies. This is much cheaper and maybe even more special than going to a restaurant.

In the afternoon, you could agree to see a movie. You have two options. You could rent a movie and stay home watching it, or you could look to see what’s playing in the movies and head out for the afternoon to the cinema.

How about an inexpensive gift? You could get your friends chocolate. Or if you want something that will last, make them a CD. A used book can also be a great present.

Any other ideas for a great Valentine’s Day?

Donning a sparkly black dress, Selena Gomez rocks out with the crowd at The Gramercy Theatre in NYC on Thursday night (February 11). 

The 17-year-old actress/singer looked to be having a great time and even had some special guests show up — American Idol’s Katharine McPhee and Days Difference, who opened for her. 

Selena sat down with MTV backstage and dished on her Valentine’s Day plans. She shared, “I have a show in Philadelphia, so I’m kind of excited. My fans will be my valentine, which is fine by me. And I’m really happy. I’m actually glad people are coming to the show, ’cause it’s Valentine’s Day … so hopefully I’ll enjoy a good show with my fans.” 

She continued, “We have a lot of confetti, and I made sure it was pink and silver and stuff that’s very Valentine’s Day-esque. But other than that, I think it’s going to be an awesome show to be able to celebrate with my fans.”

The 17-year-old actress wrote along with them, “July is going to be a big month this year, July 15th is the launch of my new clothing line Dream Out Loud I have some pictures below, July 22nd I turn 18, and July 23rd Ramona and Beezus is released in theaters.” 

Sel continued, “Also www.selenagomez.com will launch in less than two weeks I don’t have an exact date yet but, you can see more of Dream Out Loud at my website when it launches. Thank you all so much for supporting me and giving me the ability to do everything I have always dreamed of doing. You are all the best.”

Super Bowl - Most Watched Show EVER!

Super Bowl XLIV is officially the most watched TV program in history!

The game, held on Sunday (February 7) drew 106.5 million viewers, according to THR, with an 8% increase in viewership over last year’s game.

The previous record for the most watched TV program was set by M*A*S*H’s final episode, which brought in 105.79 million viewers.

In case you weren’t one of the 106 million watching, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in the match!

Selena Gomez gets into the groove as she belts out “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” one of Selena Quintanilla’s biggest hits during her concert on Sunday night (February 7) at the San Antonio Rodeo.

The 17-year-old actress who was named after the slain Latina popstar has once said, “My dad and family loved her. So when my mother got pregnant with me, he wanted to name me Selena, after her. As I got older and could understand why I was named after her, I went to go visit her grave and where she used to perform.”

And yes, Selena’s rumored boyfriend Nick Jonas was in the audience supporting her. Check out the video below!

We have all heard lots about this cute 15-year old boy with the great smile and voice. But how did he become the star he is today?

Justin was born in Ontario Canada almost 16 years ago. He is quite the musician and can play the guitar, trumpet and the drums.

About three years ago Justin’s mom started uploading his videos onto Youtube. Some of these videos of him playing were so good that they started getting hits from thousands of viewers, which over time turned Justin into a real phenomenon.

He made and released his first CD last November. It is called My World and it has helped him become even more famous.

Last week he was at the Grammy Awards and got to present two awards to their winners. He talked about this experience on Twitter: “In a small town a kid started putting videos on the web, and three years later I sang with some of my heros. I am so grateful!”

Justin is a big fan of Rihanna and Beyonce, and now he is a star for many of the fans of these two pop divas.  We bet that this year Justin will turn into one of the top musicians out there, and we plan to be there to watch him grow! Shoot for the stars Justin!
